KAIRUKU DDA SUPPORTS CENTRAL MUSIC FESTIVAL 2026

The Kairuku District Development Authority (KDDA) is proud to support the Central Music Festival 2026, which will be hosted in Bereina Town, Kairuku District, from 11th to 13th September 2026.

The KDDA has contributed K200,000.00 towards the successful staging of this important cultural and musical event. This support reflects KDDA’s commitment to promoting culture, tradition, music and the talents of our people, particularly our young generation.

Under the leadership of the Minister for Energy, Member for Kairuku and KDDA Chairman, Hon. Peter N. Isoaimo, the District recognises the Central Music Festival as an important platform for artists—both young and old—to showcase their musical talents while celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Central Province.

The festival will also provide an opportunity for Kairuku District to showcase its unique culture and traditions, including traditional dances, performances and customs passed down through generations.

Our culture is our identity. It connects us to our clans, tribes, communities and ancestors. By giving our young people opportunities to learn, witness and participate in traditional performances, we can ensure that our cultural heritage is preserved, respected and nurtured for generations to come.

Hon. Peter N. Isoaimo extends his appreciation to Madam Governor Rufina Peter and the Central Music, Arts and Culture Festival Organising Committee for choosing Kairuku District, particularly Bereina, as the host location for this significant event.

Hon. Peter N. Isoaimo also conveys his sincerest apologies to the people of Kairuku and Central Province that he will not be able to attend the festival personally, as he is currently undertaking official overseas duty travel in Beijing, China, for the APEC Energy Ministers’ Meeting. He is expected to return on 15 September 2026.

Despite his absence, the KDDA remains fully supportive of the event and wishes all participating artists, cultural groups, organisers and communities a successful and memorable Central Music Festival 2026.

With Independence Day just around the corner, what better way to celebrate this incredible milestone as a nation than by honoring the unique and diverse cultures that define us as Papua New Guineans. Cultures that may be different in many ways, yet unite us under one flag, one nation: Papua New Guinea.

This year, we are proud to feature 10 cultural groups representing all four regions of Papua New Guinea, showcasing the richness and diversity of our country's traditions.
