Potholes and ugly sights of street roads at the Hohola Commercial area will now become a thing of the past, thanks to NCD Governor Powes Parkop and the National Capital District Commission.
The area has been given a facelift after the roads were upgraded. Frangipani Street was sealed with concrete. Parts of Kroton, Poinciana and Kunai Streets were also concreted to avoid potholes as was the norm.
This project is under Governor Parkop's six-point priorities especially on improvement of suburbs. At a cost of K20.1 million this development is part of 34-Kilometre roads which have been upgraded not only to further add a new character and vitality to the city as a truly nation's capital, but also to showcase to the visitors that it is the last frontier where there is untapped potential for tourism and investment.
Contractor Dekenai Construction Limited started the work mid last year. Many of the shop owners whom the City Sivarai interviewed expressed their gratitude to the Governor and the Commission for the project which they say the roads will not only lift the landscape of their shops but also they are receiving their taxes in form of this project.
Umair Hassan, 27, of Pakistan origin who works at PNG Auto Parts said they were really happy with road sealing.
