NCDC Staff Upskilled To Raise Customer Service Standards
National Capital District Commission has equipped 18 administration and front desk officers with essential customer service skills to deliver more professional, efficient and client-focused services to the people of Port Moresby.
The officers graduated after completing a weeklong customer service skills training facilitated by the Somare Institute of Leadership and Governance.
The initiative forms part of NCDC's ongoing organizational restructuring agenda aimed at professionalizing the municipal authority and strengthening the capacity of its workforce to better serve residents, businesses and stakeholders of NCD.
Speaking on behalf of the NCDC executive management, Principal Legal Officer Ms. Delcah Herold said improving customer service within the public sector was a priority, as front desk officers are often the first point of contact for members of the public.
She acknowledged that poor customer service remains a common challenge across many public institutions in PNG.
"Quality and professional customer service is often lacking in the public sector, yet front desk officers are the face of an organization and play a critical role in shaping the public's experience.
This training is important because it equips our officers with the skills and confidence to provide respectful, professional and efficient services to our clients every day," Ms. Herold said.
The training is one of several staff development initiatives being implemented as NCDC continues its efforts to build a more professional and responsive municipal authority.
