Papua New Guineans should be very proud of PNG Kapuls who will be carrying the national flag in the FIFA World Cup qualifier matches in the coming weeks.
NCD Governor Powes Parkop said he was confident that the boys who made the team will do their part in playing quality football to get PNG to the FIFA World Cup in Russia.
"I am sure the boys will do their part, they have shown it in the past. We came close during the Oceania Federation Championship. We were a game away where we could have been in Russia last year but we missed out after been beaten by New Zealand on the shootout,” said Governor Parkop when presenting the team a cheque of K30, 000.00 recently on behalf of the city of Port Moresby.
“It’s a very big challenge but we should all rise up to meet the challenges and I am happy that we are supporting a worthy course especially a pathway to the World Cup,” said Governor Parkop. "It’s time the Pacific takes part in the FIFA World Cup. It’s not going to be easy for the Kapuls, but they have once beaten all the other teams to make it to the OFC grand final and I am confident that they can do it again. The team must concentrate on training, commitment and the passion for the game."
Papua New Guinea Football Association President John Wesley said he was grateful for the support from the National Capital District Commission through the Governor. “Our dream is be in the FIFA World Cup in Russia,” said Wesley.
