Community & Social Services

Our Services

Community and Social Services Department is responsible for social services and includes Health, Education, Waste Management, Parks and public amenities, cross-cutting social issues of Youth, Gender, Family Sexual Violence, Sports and Urban Safety.

The unprecedented development challenges triggered by economic boom and population growth in the last 10 years has challenged the department’s institutional capacity and resources to effectively manage and sustain social changes and outcomes. The current trend of development in the social sector is also influenced by conflicting traditional cultures and introduced concepts in the midst of a thriving economic climate Port Moresby is experiencing.
