THE ACTIVE CITY PINKTOBER RUN 2023 IS BACK!

The NCDC Active City Development Program, in collaboration with the French Embassy and Friends of Pom Gen, will be hosting the 2023 Active City Pinktober Run this Saturday, October,28th, 2023.

The Pinktober Run is more than just a charity run; it's a powerful platform for raising awareness about breast cancer and supporting cancer treatment in the city.

Throughout October, Port Moresby turns pink, aligning with the global breast cancer awareness movement.

The event aims to promote preventative health, inspire behaviour change, and encourage fitness and wellness among individuals and communities.

This year, the organizers aim to raise K70,000 minimum , enough to provide a year's worth of treatment for 50 women battling breast cancer.

The funds will be directed towards purchasing essential medications for breast cancer treatment, including Tamoxifen 10mg tablets and Paclitaxel.

The organizing team would like to extend their sincere gratitude to their generous sponsors, who play a vital role in making this event possible:

• Silver Sponsor: Air Niugini

• Bronze Sponsors: Constantinou Group and Namba Wan Trophy Limited

• Support Sponsors: Bank of South Pacific, Total Energies, Pacific Industries, Digicel, Color Studios, Puma Energy, and the European Union.

Interested participants can visit the official websites and Facebook pages of Friends of POMGEM and the Active City Development Program to register with K50.

Exciting prizes are up for grabs; the first runner to complete the run will be rewarded with 2x return domestic tickets to any location in PNG, courtesy of Air Niugini.

Additionally, for the most creative outfits, participants can win two cell phones with merchandise packages, courtesy of Digicel.

The 7-kilometer run will start at 5 am at Sir Hubert Murray Stadium, heading to APEC Haus and finishing back at the Stadium.
